Message You're saying if you add or remove some mass from the system, you will change the frequency at which it resonates.
But my contention is that since rubber isn't a spring, it shouldn't matter what the frequency is.

If it was a spring, then you'd need to match the rebound of the spring to the frequency of the crankshaft to make sure the oscillations match up and cancel each other out. But since it's rubber, it's mushy, not springy, and should absorb most any frequency you put into it. It's kind of like thick tar, it shouldn't rebound very much, it should just aborb the energy.

That's just my guess, anyway.
